Three Drinks to Reduce Excess Water in the Body

A short article on excess water in the body. How to deal with it? In this article, you will find recipes for three drinks that are worth drinking every day!

Excess water in the body not only causes swelling in various parts of the body but also overall discomfort. You may experience temporary weight gain or notice water retention cellulite on your stomach or thighs. Women are especially prone to this phenomenon during pregnancy, menstruation (second phase), and menopause. See what the symptoms are, the causes, and how to deal with it.

Symptoms:

  • swollen legs, feet, ankles, or hands,
  • stiff joints,
  • bloating, especially in the abdominal area,
  • weight fluctuations,
  • swelling of the abdomen, face, and hips,
  • water retention cellulite on thighs and abdomen,
  • feeling tired, sluggish, and low on energy.

Causes:

  • too much salt intake
  • unhealthy diet and consumption of fast food
  • lack of physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle
  • rapid weight gain in a short time

How to deal with it?

  1. Start eating healthy!
  2. Reduce the amount of salt in your meals
  3. Avoid alcohol, sugary drinks, and certain carbohydrates, e.g., highly processed foods (e.g., ready-made meals) and products made from white flour (e.g., pasta, bread, etc.)
  4. Add to your diet foods rich in:
    • potassium: beets, beans, tomatoes, or avocados
    • magnesium: hulled hemp seeds, flaxseed, sesame, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, cashew nuts
  5. Get moving (even a brisk walk every day will do) and drink still water!
  6. Incorporate one, two, or all three 😉 drinks into your diet to reduce excess water in your body! Find the recipes below.

1. Parsley juice

  • a bunch of fresh parsley
  • juice of ½ lemon
  • a glass of still water

Soak the parsley in a bowl of water with 2 teaspoons of baking soda for 5 minutes. Rinse. Then blend all the ingredients (just the parsley leaves) on high speed for about 1 minute.

Parsley juice has a diuretic effect but is also a huge vitamin bomb (it contains a lot of iron). It’s an ideal elixir for beautiful and healthy hair and nourished skin. Two in one! Read more about it and see my transformation >>

2. Still water with chia seeds

  • a glass of still water
  • juice of ½ lemon
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of chia seeds

Mix still water with chia seeds. Add a maximum of 1 ½ teaspoons per glass. You can add more seeds to a larger bottle (2-3 teaspoons). Additionally, you can add mint leaves 🙂

In the summer, fresh lavender is an ideal addition (I love this combination!)

3. Herbs for hot/cold drinks

  • horsetail
  • nettle
  • elderberry
  • birch leaves
  • dandelion

Infuse dried or fresh herbs (picked far from the road or from your garden). You can drink them hot or cold 🙂 I recommend making lemonade based on this herbal infusion with lime, lemon, or mint leaves. Don’t add sugar.
